The granulation machine is an efficient fertilizer processing equipment that can quickly process powdery or granular materials to the ideal granule size. It is widely used in agriculture, the chemical industry, food, feed, and other industries. According to the different production processes of the granulator, we divide the granulator into two categories: dry granulation and wet granulation. Do you want to know how granulators with different processes work? I will explain it to you in detail next.

disc granulator

What is a wet granulator?

Common wet granulators are: drum granulation, disc granulation, and stirrer granulation.

Wet granulators are suitable for raw materials with moisture content between 20% and 40%, such as chicken manure, sludge, wine tanks, etc. Or spray liquid on the dry material to keep the material with a certain amount of moisture, so that the materials can adhere to each other to form tight particles.

Compared with dry granulation, wet granulation can better control the size and shape of particles, and the resulting granules are stronger. However, everything has two sides. After granulation by the wet granulator, the granules still retain a certain amount of moisture. A dryer is needed to dry and cool the finished particles to make them harder and easier to store without deformation for a long time. This results in greater energy consumption during the granulation process and requires auxiliary equipment, which increases the complexity and cost of the system.

double roller granulator

So what are the advantages and disadvantages of dry granulation?

Commonly used dry granulators: double roller extrusion granulator, flat die granulator.

Advantage:

1. Extrusion into granules at one time: suitable for dry raw materials, no additional liquid treatment is required, the structure is simple, and the materials can be processed into granules in one go.

2. Low energy consumption: The finished particles of dry granulation have strong hardness and no drying process is required, which reduces energy consumption.

3. Large production volume: raw materials can be quickly processed into granules to achieve continuous production.

Shortcoming: High requirements for raw materials: suitable for materials with a moisture content of about 15%.

These granulation equipment can not only produce fertilizer granule; but also produce various granular materials such as cat litter, feed, fragrance beads, desiccant, graphite granules, snow melting agents, etc. You are welcome to contact us, we will develop the most complete plant and a satisfactort quotation for you!
